How to play
- Teams: you (bottom) + AI partner (top) vs two AI opponents (left & right).
- Bidding: each player bids how many tricks they expect to take (13 cards each). Team bid = sum of both partners' bids. Bid NIL to take zero tricks for +100 (or −100 if you take any).
- Play: you must follow the led suit if you can. ♠️ Spades can't be led until they're broken (played on another suit) — unless spades are all you hold.
- Winning a trick: highest spade wins; if no spade, highest card of the led suit.
- Scoring: make your bid → bid × 10 plus 1 per overtrick. Miss → −bid × 10. Overtricks become bags; every 10 bags costs −100. First team to the target (300 or 500) wins the match.
- Nil: a successful nil is +100 for your team; a failed nil is −100.
- Difficulty: Easy rivals play loose, Medium is balanced, Hard bids and plays sharply.

About Spades
Spades is the bidding trick-taker with attitude: bid your tricks, trump with spades, and hit your bid exactly — because overtricks cost you and missed bids cost more. Our free online Spades seats you with three AI partners and opponents for the full partnership game.
Spades rewards counting and communication. Track the spades that have been played, remember who's void in what suit, and bid honestly — sandbagging feels clever until the bags bury you. The partnership dynamic means your AI partner's bids are information; use them.
Quick tips
- Count spades — knowing what's left decides the endgame.
- Bid your hand's real value; chronic overbidding loses more than it wins.
- Lead low from long suits to draw out opponents' spades safely.
