How to play
You are the light checkers. You move from point 24 (top right) counter-clockwise down to point 1 (bottom right), then bear off.
Tap 🎲 Roll, then tap one of your checkers and tap a glowing destination. Doubles give you 4 moves.
Land on a lone enemy checker (blot) to send it to the bar. Checkers on the bar must re-enter before anything else moves.
Once all 15 are in your home board (points 1–6), you can bear off — tap the checker, then tap the YOU OFF tray. Exact roll bears off; a higher roll takes your highest checker.
Doubling cube: before rolling, tap ✌️ Double (once per game) to double the stakes. The AI accepts if it rates its chances at 25%+ — if it declines, you win immediately. Beware: the AI can double you too.
💡 Tap the hint button during your move for the engine's suggested play. The Pips chip shows the live pip count (you/AI).
First to bear off all 15 wins. Sound is off by default — tap 🔊 to enable.
About Backgammon
Backgammon is one of the oldest board games in the world — a race between two armies of checkers around a 24-point board, driven by dice and sharpened by strategy. Our free online backgammon lets you play against the computer with full rules: hitting blots, the bar, bearing off, and the doubling cube.
What makes backgammon endlessly replayable is the tension between luck and skill. The dice decide your options, but you decide your fate — when to race, when to hold, when to build a prime, and when to double. Beginners can learn the rules in ten minutes; masters spend years on cube decisions.
Quick tips
Make the 5-point early — it's the most valuable point on the board.
Don't leave blots in your opponent's home board unless you have a plan.
Double when you're clearly ahead but the game could still swing — don't wait for a lock.
