How to play
Advance / Retreat change the distance. You can only land a Lunge at close distance.
When the rival flashes ❗, Parry within the window — a successful parry opens a golden ⚡ RIPOSTE: your next lunge is unblockable and scores with flair.
Feint (🤏) fakes a lunge. If the rival bites (❓), it wastes its parry — your real lunge can't be blocked for a few seconds. 5s cooldown.
Scoring lamps: green lamp = your touch, red lamp = rival's, just like a real fencing piste.
Sudden death: at 4–4 the arena goes dark, the spotlight narrows, and the next touch wins the bout.
Three rivals in sequence: 🐍 Viper (aggressive quick lunges), 🛡️ Warden (parries your lunges), 💃 Dancer (erratic footwork, fake ❗ telegraphs). First to 5 touches wins each bout — sweep all three for the championship.

About Midnight Fencing
Midnight Fencing is a dueling game of nerve and timing: two fencers, one strip, and a bout decided in flashes of steel. Advance, retreat, parry, and lunge — every touch is a read on your opponent's rhythm, and the whole match can turn on a single mistimed lunge.
The game rewards patience over aggression. Bait the attack, parry-riposte, and punish overreach. Watch your opponent's patterns for two or three exchanges before committing — in fencing, the second move usually wins.
Quick tips
Don't lunge first — let them commit, then parry and riposte.
Control distance; the fencer who controls the strip controls the bout.
Mix up your timing so your attacks don't become predictable.
